Completion Settings

On this page you can configure how Percipio defines completion for courses, videos, and content that doesn't have time tracking built in. You can also choose the retake interval for Skill Benchmarks and whether learners can receive certificates of completions. These settings help you set learning standards and expectations for your company.

Access this page from the left navigation bar, Site Settings > Site Configuration, then Completion Settings.

Course Completion

In this section, you set the completion criteria for all Skillsoft courses. You cannot change the completion criteria for any other asset types (such as audiobooks, books, or TestPreps). Custom course packages (SCORM/AICC) include their own completion criteria (which is set during course creation).

Minimum required assessment score: This number is the minimum score percentage a learner must score on a course test.

  • This minimum score percentage applies universally for all Skillsoft courses.
  • The default score percentage is 70%, but you can customize the value from 50% to 100%.
  • The minimum score percentage displays to learners on the course page, as part of the course completion criteria.
  • This score does not apply to TestPrep exams.

Course is complete when minimum assessment score is achieved: Selecting this option allows the user to take the assessment without having to watch any course videos. Use this option to help learners test out of content they may already know. If the course does not have an assessment, the learner must watch at least 50% of each video to achieve completion..

Course is complete when all videos are viewed or minimum assessment score is achieved: This is the default option. When selected, a learner can either achieve the minimum score or watch at least 50% of every video within the course for the course to be marked as complete.

  • A video is considered viewed (complete) when a learner views at least 50% of the content.
  • A learner can complete the course by achieving the minimum score percentage on the assessment (test) instead of watching all the course videos.
  • If the course does not have an assessment, the learner must watch at least 50% of each video to achieve completion.

Course is complete when all videos are viewed and minimum assessment score is achieved. When selected, learners only achieve completion after they watch all videos (at least 50% of each video) and achieve the minimum score on the assessment. If the course does not have an assessment, the learner must watch at least 50% of each video to achieve completion.

Video completion

In this section, you can set the completion threshold for videos that are part of Skillsoft courses to ensure the highest learning standards suited to your organizational goals. Changing this setting from 50% does not affect custom course packages (SCORM/AICC), Skillsoft compliance videos, MP4s, streaming videos, or YouTube videos, nor does it affect when learners launch a video through ELSA. The completion threshold for these video types remains at 50%.

By default, the video completion threshold is set to 50%. This means that a learner must watch at least half of the video before Percipio marks it as complete. When you use the default setting of 50%, learners can go forward and backward through the video whenever they want. For example, if the video is 8 minutes long, the learner must watch at least 4 minutes of the video for it to be considered complete. The learner can jump to the four minute mark in the video and watch the last four minutes of the video and achieve completion.

Changing the completion threshold higher than the default of 50% impacts how the video player behaves for the learner. For example, if you change the completion threshold to be 75% or 100%, the learner must achieve completion before they can jump forward through the content. Once the learner achieves completion, they can go forward and backward through the video whenever they want. The learner can always go backwards in the video, but only as far forward as they have watched. This ensures that your learning standards are met. If you increase the threshold to 75% or 100%, learners can still play the video at higher speeds, just not jump ahead.

You can change the threshold at any time. Once a learner achieves completion, the video remains completed even if you were to increase the completion threshold.

Learning time entry

By default, Percipio doesn't capture learning time for learners when they access custom external linked content, custom web pages, or custom files. You can allow Percipio to capture time spent learning by checking the option: Allow learning time for non-tracked content.

With the option selected, you must choose one of two ways:

  • Use the time provided by the content’s recommended duration value: Checked by default, use this option when you want learning time to equal the estimated duration specified when you created the custom content. This estimated duration shows to learners so they can estimate how much time they must spend with the content.

  • Use the time a learner enters when they mark the item complete: Depending on how you configure the custom content completion criteria, this option allows you to let learners enter their own time they spent learning either after they launch an item or after they mark the item complete.

If you allow tracking of learning time for these non-tracked items, the time captured counts toward any learning goal learners set and shows in reports and activity lists.

Skill Benchmark Completion Interval

Skill Benchmarks allow learners to rate their level of proficiency for a particular skill. The results of a benchmark show how strong an individual is in that skill and where they can improve. To help a learner improve, Percipio shows them specific content recommendations targeted to those questions answered incorrectly. The learner then consumes the recommended content and retakes the benchmark to improve their proficiency.

The default number of days that have to pass before a learner can retake the benchmark is 30 days. You can change this to fit your organization's culture. The minimum value you can select is 14 days; this gives the learner a chance to review content before retaking the benchmark.

To change the default:

  1. Check the box for: Override 30 days completion interval.
  2. Specify the number of days in the Re-take assessment interval (in days) field.
  3. Select Save changes.

After the selected number of days passes, Percipio sends a recommendation email to the learner prompting them that it is time to retake their benchmark to improve their score. Learners also see reminders in re-engagement emails.

Completion Certificates

The settings in this section control whether learners can receive certificates of completion for either Skillsoft courses and Aspire Journeys or custom SCORM/AICC courses and custom journeys.

If a learner downloaded a certificate upon completion, and then the item had a name change, they can download the certificate again to show the new name.

Enable Completion certificates for Skillsoft Content: When selected, learners see a Download Certificate link next to each eligible, completed Skillsoft course, Aspire journey, custom journey, or custom certification path on their Activity page. When not selected, learners do not see the Download Certificate link. See Site Branding for customizing Skillsoft certificates of completion.

Enable Completion certificates for Custom Content: When selected, learners see a Download Certificate link next to each eligible, completed custom AICC or SCORM course on their Activity page. When not selected, learners do not see the Download Certificate link. See Site Branding for customizing custom course or journey certificates of completion.

Compliance Course Restarts

Customers who integrate Compliance Suite with another LMS can configure compliance courses to allow learners to automatically retake them after a specified interval. This update is designed to ensure that your learners stay compliant with regulatory and organizational standards without the need for manual intervention.

This setting allows you to tailor the restart settings to fit your organizational needs, including frequency and conditions for restarts. In addition, compliance course progress and completion data are tracked and reported back to the LMS, providing administrators with comprehensive insights into learner performance and compliance status.

You have two available setting:

  • Restart completed courses a set number days after the completion date: Use this setting to force a restart for users who have completed a course.

  • Restart in-progress courses a set number of days after the last access date: Use this setting to force a restart for users who started a course, but didn't finish and haven't accessed it in a long time.
