Get Started with LX Design Studio

In LX Design Studio, you can create the following types of content:

  • CAISY for Conversations: These are simulations that allow learners to practice having real-world conversations in a safe, low-stakes environment.
  • CAISY for Presentations: These are simulations that allow learners to practice presenting a slide deck to an AI audience in order to improve their public speaking skills and get real-time feedback on their performance.
  • Assessments: These provide a great way for learners to assess their knowledge on certain concepts and receive dynamic feedback on how they can improve.

Before you begin

Before you begin to use LX Design Studio, you must:

  • Be set up with access to LX Design Studio. See Roles and privileges for appropriate access.

  • Know which workspaces you will work in and how you will organize the content you will create.

  • Know which projects you will use and who will collaborate with you on the project.

Decide how to begin

There are many entry points to creating content. Use the method that works best for you.

  • If you know the type of content you want to create, select the appropriate app from the Home page, the App page, or from the Content items page. When you are in the app and creating new content, you can:

    • Dialog with the app's Design Assistant (if available) to add information to the design brief to build up your case. The app populates the associated input forms with the details from your dialog.

    • Add details directly into the input forms.

  • If you don't know the type of content you want to create, start with the main Design Assistant from the home page or from the Start a new chat button from the left navigation. When the Design Assistant has enough information from your conversation, it recommends an app.

Get started

Once you have access to LX Design Studio, know your workspace, and your project, you can begin creating content. To access LX Design Studio:

  1. From Percipio, select the 9-dot menu from the upper left corner.
  2. Select LX Design Studio. The Home page launches in a new tab.
  3. Choose the language in which you want to create content. The default language is your site language from Percipio. You cannot change your content's language after you begin to create it.
  4. Before you begin creating content, you must choose your workspace. Select a workspace from the workspace drop down. A workspace is where the content you will be creating is stored. You are given access to a shared organizational workspace and a personal workspace where you serve as the Workspace Administrator. Workspaces are where you create and manage your projects. Projects are the folders or containers that store content items. When choosing your workspace, remember that:
    • Only you can see the project and its content unless you invite others to collaborate.
    • If you add a collaborator to a project who is not already in that workspace, they are automatically added to the workspace.
    • Knowledge sources added at the workspace level are available to your project, alleviating the burden from you having to add them to each project you create. Note that for Early Access customers, knowledge sources can be added to a workspace, but the Design Assistant does not yet have the capability to reference them when creating your custom content.
  5. Choose how to begin:
    • Not sure what type of content is best: You know you need to upskill or reskill your workforce and you know you need to use your company specific use cases and policies, procedures, and branding, but you are not sure how to begin. LX Design Studio guides you. To begin in this type of situation:
      1. From the home page, in the center, enter in your own words what you want to create. You can also select Start a new chat from the left navigation. The main Design Assistant opens. You see the dialog pane on the left and your design brief on the right. The design brief is an organized summary of your conversation.

      2. The Design Assistant dialogues with you and asks you questions to get the necessary details needed for creating your content. Answer all its questions with as much information as you can. The more specific and detailed you can be, the better your results. As you answer questions, the Design Assistant creates a design brief in the right pane.
      3. At the end of the conversation, the following happens:
        • The Design Assistant keeps a record of your conversation history and design brief that you can pick back up at any time.
        • The Design Assistant recommends one or more content apps. Select one to continue building your content.
        • The Design Assistant makes a copy of the design brief and imports it into the app you choose so you can continue building your content. The original design brief remains in your conversation history.
        • You can download a copy of the design brief to share with your colleagues. Select the download button in the upper right corner of the right pane.
    • You know the type of content you want to create: When you know the type of content you want to create, you can bypass the initial conversation and go right into the app.
      1. Select the app from the home page. The app's content page displays.
      2. Select Create new. A pop up displays asking you to select a project.
      3. Select a project. Projects are associated to specific workspaces. Each content you create has to be associated with a project. Projects help you stay organized and let you control who has access to edit or view the content you create. Even if you create a project in a shared workspace, others can not see it unless you add them as collaborators to that project.
      4. Select Next. Depending on the app, you see prompts guiding you to specify additional information.
      5. When you are done adding information, you can preview your content before publishing it.

Whether you start in the main Design Assistant or within a specific app, you finish creating content in an app. For more information, visit the corresponding page for creating content in each app.
