New Features and Enhancements as of July 28, 2026
The list of new features and enhancements is organized according to the themes in our Skillsoft development roadmap.
Expanding skills of your workforce
The items in this section provide ways to grow your talent and fill critical skill gaps, building mastery with confidence.
AI Coach — Now Available in Early Access for customers who purchased the Skillsoft Platform
If you purchased the Skillsoft Platform, you now have early access to AI Coach. AI Coach is a personalized, real-time coaching experience — aligned with International Coaching Federation (ICF) Core Competencies, where learners can get career guidance when they need it, set and track professional development goals, request feedback from managers or colleagues, and receive personalized, skill-based, resource recommendations based on their coaching goals and assessments.
To turn on AI Coach, go to Site Settings > Site Configurations > AI Coach Settings. Before turning it on, review email notifications, knowledge sources, feedback settings, and performance cycle dates so the learner experience is configured for your organization. You can enable AI Coach for all learners or limit access to specific audiences.
Coming soon, you and your learning admins can view the AI Coach dashboard to understand learner engagement and coaching goal activity.
When learners first access AI Coach, they complete a short onboarding process including introductory questions and a self-assessment. From there, they can chat with their AI Coach any time, manage coaching goals, request feedback, access resources, and upload documents, all in support of advancing their skills and career for your company.
Learners can submit documents to demonstrate skills acquired
You can now capture real-world evidence of skill application by allowing learners to upload artifacts such as documents, reports, and presentations. This moves your programs beyond simple course completion to verifiable skill demonstration with a single source of truth, eliminating email-based workflows and manual tracking.
To start using this feature:
- Enable the feature from Site Settings > Site Configuration > Site features > Document submission.
- Create a custom content item of the type Document submission.
- Specify instructions of what the learner needs to submit, learning objectives, skills, and an optional template they can follow.
- Add your document submission item into your existing custom journeys or channels, assignments or learning programs.
- View, download and delete learner submissions from Learning > Learner Submissions.
Learners can track their activity under My Learning Activity > My Submissions.
Learners can now replay audio from their recently completed CAISY scenario so they can review and reflect on their performance. This can help them reinforce key skills, identify areas for improvement, and better internalize feedback from their practice conversations. Learners see the playback option directly within their completed CAISY scenario, making it easy for them to revisit and learn from their prior attempts.
There is no configuration settings for this feature; it is part of all CAISY AI simulations.
With this release, learners see more precise and consistent scoring for 10 high-impact CAISY AI Simulations. This new scoring rubric helps learners better understand exactly which behaviors need improvement and how to perform more effectively in real-world situations. This new rubric definition does not use different AI models, it just evaluates against clearer behavioral expectations and more aligned performance criteria to help you better measure and develop critical soft skills across your workforce.
The updated rubrics apply to the following CAISY scenarios:
- Sales Motion
- Irate Customer
- Addressing Conflicts in Your Team
- Coaching an Employee through Career Development
- Developing People
- Fostering Accountability
- Giving Developmental Feedback to an Underperformer
- Handling Difficult Conversations with Grace
- Managing Multiple Priorities and Your Time Effectively
- Refund Request
You do not need to change any settings to see the new rubric for these ten CAISYs; the enhanced rubrics automatically apply to all new learner attempts for the listed scenarios.
Automatic translation of closed captions is now available for your custom English videos when you include an English source caption file (VTT). This helps you deliver a consistent, multilingual, and accessible viewing experience across all videos in your library, both Skillsoft and custom.
When learners view your custom video, they can enable closed captions and choose the best available platform language. You must turn on Allow for automated translated closed captions for learners to take advantage.
When you create a custom journey, channel, or learning program in a non-English language (for example, German) and you include Skillsoft English US content or English US custom content from LX Design Studio, such as a CAISY for Conversation or skill benchmark, learners with their site language set to that non-English language, now see the content cards for those items translated, provided you have enabled the Unified Language Experience setting and a translation is available.
This means learners experience a more consistent, localized learning journey without you needing to manually manage multiple language versions of the same content.
Important: If a translation is not available for a specific item because it doesn’t have a pre-translation or has not yet been launched in that language, learners will continue to see the card in English US until someone launches the item while in that site language. Once any learner launches an English US item in a platform language that does not offer pre-translated content, such as Somali or Norwegian, the content is immediately translated and available for the next learner.
The Personalize for my role filter that learners see in the top left of search results has been renamed to Smart Search to help learners better understand what the filter does.
The filter functions as it did before. If you allow learners to use the filter, then when learners turn it on, they will see more relevant and meaningful search results tailored to their specific job role.
Engaging your learners to build a learning culture
The items in this section provide ways to engage your users so they want to learn and make learning a habit.
To help support learners who have limited or unreliable internet access, learners who download a course in the mobile app, can now see and complete the course assessments while offline.
Because scoring and feedback require connectivity, feedback for individual questions is not available in offline mode, and final assessment scores and results are not displayed immediately after submitting an assessment offline. Once the learner reconnects the device to the internet, assessment responses are automatically synced and the learner receives a notification that their results are available. Learners can tap the notification to view their final score and assessment results.
You can now use AI to translate your custom email templates into multiple languages, helping you deliver consistent, localized communications to learners at scale.
When you create or edit an email template, you can select to have it send in multiple languages. After you finish designing in the default language, select Translate with AI. For each language selected, AI translates all content contained in the default language template including the subject, pre-header, and email content.
After you initiate the AI translation, you see the status for each selected language on its tab. Translations may take up to a few hours to complete. You can save your work and continue with other tasks. You receive a Message Center notification when translations are complete.
To make it easier for learners as they track their own progress, the My Learning Activity page now includes several usability improvements. These changes help learners quickly filter and review their activity. With this update, learners can now:
- Filter directly from the table column headers for Type, Status, and Title, making it easier to narrow down specific activities.
- View up to 50 rows per page by default, and see page numbers so they can easily navigate larger activity lists.
- Filter on common date ranges (for example, last 7 days, last 30 days) as well as a custom date range where dates can be typed or selected from a calendar. A maximum range of one year is enforced, and results are limited to 500 total rows to keep performance responsive.
You can now assign XP values to specific content items, giving you more control over how learning engagement is rewarded across your platform. Use this feature when you want to run time-bound learning campaigns or incentivize completion of newly added or business-critical content.
Locate the settings under Engagement > XP > XP for individual content. If a learner completed the item before you assign a special XP value to it, they do not get the new points.
For more information see, XP for individual content.
Analytics Updates
The items in this section showcase changes to reports and dashboards to help you more effectively and efficiently manage your programs.
In this release, you see the following enhancements to the Feature Usage report:
- Page Builder data now included: To help you better understand how the custom pages you created in Page Builder are being used and adopted across your site, you can now see the following in the Feature Usage report:
- Each learner who accessed pages and when
- How many times a page was accessed and when it was accessed
- What links were followed and how often
- Visiting learner percentage column: Column width optimized to make the report easier to scan and compare with other columns.
- Intensity metric: This value is now rounded to the nearest whole number, simplifying interpretation and making it easier to quickly compare intensity across features.
If you offer learners the ability to retake your custom live courses (instructor-led training), you now see that activity show on the Learner Activity and Detailed Activity reports in the Recurrence column. This ensures that each time a learner retakes the same custom live course, it is correctly captured and distinguishable.
With this release, you now see a new quick link that allows you to navigate between the Learner Activity Report and the Detailed Activity Report. If you need historical data beyond the Learner Activity Report's real-time snapshot, you can now switch directly to the Detailed Activity Report with a single click — and vice versa. This makes it easier to access both real-time and multi-year historical data without navigating away from your reporting workflow.
New Settings
To help you better manage new features and enhancements that come out with this release, this section contains a summary of new settings that you can configure in Percipio.
If you are looking to update how your platform uses job roles, you can find the settings in their own section under Site features for easier access.
The Personalize search setting was renamed to Smart Search to aptly reflect the AI nature of this filter.
Document Submissions
For customers who purchased the Skillsoft platform, see Learners can submit documents to demonstrate skills acquired.
Enable stock (SME-curated) questions in Custom Skill Benchmarks
For customers who purchased the Skillsoft platform, see Reference Skillsoft assessment questions when authoring a custom skill benchmark
Manage, promote, and measure learning
The items in this section provide the tools you need to manage users and content, promote learning, and measure learning effectiveness on your bottom line.
You can now grant learner completions and waivers for journeys and dynamic content, allowing you to address such things as transfers, equivalencies, or prior learning, without requiring learners to complete every asset manually.
Learners see these granted completions reflected in their progress and transcripts, just as if they had completed the content themselves.
With this update, learners can restart documents and links that you added as custom content items, allowing for multiple completions. This lets you reuse the same document or link over multiple assignment cycles. Supported document formats include PDF, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, mp3, and mp4, while supported link assets include URL-based content, external learning links, and web resources.
To use this feature, add your custom document or link to an assignment and enable the option, Learners are required to restart content from the beginning. Learners assigned these assets must restart the item to achieve completion. They get a new completion record that satisfies the current assignment while leaving prior completions intact.
Other important information about this feature:
- The existing Restart Notification setting, Site Configuration > Site Settings > Completion Settings now also governs restart messaging for custom documents and links.
- The Content restart settings now contains a sections allowing you to set the frequency and conditions for restarts of the documents and links.
- Reports such as Learner Activity, Assignment Detail by User, and Assignment Summary by User now display multiple completion records for documents and links, giving you visibility into both current and historical completions.
For classes published after July 28, 2026, you will be able to accurately record learner participation for every individual session within a multi‑session class, giving you more precise data for compliance, reporting, and completion tracking. With this update:
- Instructors can quickly mark who attended, who was absent, or who had another status for each session of a class.
- Session attendance automatically rolls up to the overall class progress and completion, ensuring that class completion reflects true participation.
- Reports store session attendance records, improving the fidelity of analytics and historical tracking.
- Audit log entries are created per session, so you can see who changed attendance and when, supporting governance and compliance needs.
For more details, see Manage roster.
When creating a new child site as part of your multi-site environment, you now see a Site Type drop-down field in the creation flow. This allows you to classify child sites by their intended purpose at the time of creation: sandbox, demo, or production, making it easier to distinguish between them later.
The site type defaults to the parent site's type.
LX Design Studio and Page Builder Enhancements
The items in this section pertain to customers who have licensed the full Skillsoft Platform which includes LX Design Studio, a suite of AI-driven apps and tools that allows you to easily design custom content tailored to your organization's policies, programs, and skills. It also includes Page Builder, a tool that allows you to create custom landing pages within the platform for specific groups of learners offering guidance and direction.
Page Builder
With this release, you now have the following functions available in Page Builder:
- The dynamic strip now has two new widgets: What’s New and Popular. You can configure what shows in the What’s New strip.
- The Basic elements now include the following widgets in addition to text and images:
- Video: Add an inline video that you previously added as a custom content item.
- Embedded content: You can embed any interactive element with a URL and add the URL to a safelist.
- Button: Add an interactive button anywhere on your page.
- Dynamic text: Add text that includes the user’s name as a way to personalize the interaction.
- Divider: Add breaks to your page to help users navigate.
- When you embed a URL, you can choose to add the URL to a corporate safe list so that all users can access it.
- When you add a content banner, you now have the option to include all available content banners available for the user., not just one banner.
- You can now grant learning admins the privilege to create and edit pages.
- A new leaderboard widget is available if you have leaderboards turned on.
General LX Design Studio
You can now quickly find the right content without manually switching between multiple workspaces or projects. A new unified search in the top navigation of LX Design Studio, lets you search across all the workspaces and projects to which you have access. This search capability is currently only available to users with the role of admin.
When the platform returns search results, you can adjust the filters and sort order so you can more efficiently find and manage your content.
When you add a PowerPoint or SCORM file as a knowledge source, AI automatically extracts embedded media assets such as, images, videos, or slides. You can then add them to your media library and use them in your content items, such as for your course videos or item thumbnails.
For more details, see Manage extracted files.
You will soon have the option within the Media Library to create images using AI. Authors provide a text prompt, and AI creates the image which is automatically saved to the Media Library so they can be reused across content items like any other media asset.
The AI used to generate images has built-in safety guardrails powered by the Gemini Flash Image model to help you maintain a safe and compliant environment when authors generate images. The guardrails:
- Evaluate requests against safety policies (for example, inappropriate or unsafe content).
- Prevent an image from being generated when the request violates a guardrail
- Log system events whenever a guardrail is triggered, giving you better visibility into how the feature is being used and helping you monitor for potential misuse.
Learners ultimately see only the approved images that authors select and publish in their content, providing a safer and more consistent visual experience. For more details, please see the knowledge base.
Course Designer
You can now include CAISY for Conversations simulation scenarios directly in a custom course that you create with Course Designer. This makes it easier for you to deliver rich, scenario-based practice that builds your learners’ conversational and soft skills.
The CAISY is its own module within the course and gets published as part of the course. Learners can launch and complete the CAISY scenario from within the course for an integrated simulation-based learning experience.
For more details, please see Create a course.
If you created a custom course in multiple languages and configured all languages to have a shared topic structure, you can now keep all those languages in sync if you need to make changes to the topic structure. If you make any of the following topic changes at the primary language, the other shared languages are automatically synchronized ensuring a consistent course across all languages.
- When a topic is deleted in the primary language, the corresponding topic is removed in all other languages.
- When a topic is added or reordered, the same structure (topics and order) is reflected in all other languages.
- Changes to topic-level slide layouts (where layout affects the presence/number of slides) are correctly propagated to all languages, without leaving orphaned or mismatched slides.
When you set languages to have an independent topic structures from the primary language, any change made at the primary level is not synchronized to other languages. The original translated version is preserved when topic changes are made.
CAISY for Conversation
With this release, you find the following enhancements when creating a CAISY for Conversation:
- You can add a custom thumbnail to help distinguish your CAISY from other ones.
- You can now specify exactly which content is recommended to learners after they complete a CAISY™ scenario, helping you guide them to the most relevant next steps and deepen skill development.
- You can configure the specific criteria that CAISY uses when evaluating learner responses in your custom scenarios. By tailoring these criteria to your organization’s expectations and competencies, you ensure that learners receive feedback that aligns with your internal standards. You can:
- Set custom feedback categories (for example, empathy, clarity, compliance, or process adherence) for each scenario.
- Adjust the weighting or importance of each criterion so CAISY emphasizes what matters most for your use case.
- Standardize feedback across similar scenarios to provide learners with a consistent experience.
Assessments
With this release, you find the ability for the Assessment app to prioritize the content from your knowledge sources when it generates learning objectives and questions for your custom skill benchmarks giving you more control and supporting your company objectives without the need for advanced prompt engineering.
- AI creates learning objectives exclusively based on knowledge sources. AI follows an action-oriented structure consistent with Bloom’s taxonomy and ensures that you can trace learning objectives back to the source document.
- Control whether AI uses just your knowledge sources when generating questions. A new Prioritize Knowledge Source setting is available on the Knowledge Source page and during question pool generation that lets you choose your approach.
- Enabled: The AI uses only your selected knowledge source(s) to generate questions. Generated questions stay within the scope of your uploaded content, ensuring higher fidelity, traceability, and alignment with your internal training, compliance, and certification requirements. Learners see questions grounded entirely in your approved resources.
- Disabled: The platform uses broader knowledge to augment questions, maintaining current behavior.
To help you improve the quality and consistency of custom skill benchmarks while reducing authoring time, you can now see Skillsoft-approved assessment questions alongside AI‑generated questions when you create benchmarks in LX Design Studio. You do not need to base your custom skill benchmark off a Skillsoft Skill Benchmark to be presented with Skillsoft, SME-approved questions.
The Skillsoft, SME-approved questions that display for an objective, after you generate questions, are based on semantic matching to the learning objective. You can review both AI-generated and SME-approved questions and select a combination of the ones that work best for your benchmark. After you pick the questions, you can review, edit, and rewrite them as necessary to meet your needs. Any edits you make to a Skillsoft, SME-approved question, only get saved to your assessment.
For more details, see Create assessments.
To allow Skillsoft SME-approved questions to display as part of assessment creation, enable the setting from the admin area of the Skillsoft platform: Site Settings > Site Configuration > Content settings> Enable stock (SME-curated) questions in Custom Skill Benchmark.
You can now translate custom skill benchmarks that you author in English into multiple languages — without having to build and maintain separate versions for each one. Translated content is available for your review before publishing, ensuring that localized versions are accurate before you publish them for learners.
With AI translation, your global teams get a consistent, scalable way to deliver skill benchmarks in learners' preferred languages — reducing authoring overhead and ensuring a unified experience across regions.
Coming Soon reminders, in case you missed it
The items in this section highlight changes to AI elements in the platform so you can stay in compliance with your internal processes and guidelines.
We are planning to introduce an updated Library experience with the goal of making it easier for learners to find relevant content, navigate more intuitively, and focus on the skills most relevant to them.
Before we reintroduce the new experience, we will provide:
- Preview materials and documentation
- Guidance for communicating changes to learners
When we introduce the new design in the platform, it will become the standard experience. Our goal is to ensure your team has the advance notice, guidance, and support needed to prepare and adopt it successfully. More details to come.
When you allow Skillsoft to collect the learner side of the conversation during a CAISY interaction, you now have the ability to set how long Skillsoft retains that data. When AI optimization and improvements setting is on, by default, Skillsoft retains the data for 180 days. You now have the option to reduce it to 30, 60, or 90 days.
Please note that if you do shorten the retention period, you may limit our ability to improve AI feedback and accuracy and learners only see their conversation history for that retention period.
When learners upload certification files AI will automatically capture certification details and confirm that the uploaded file represents a professional certification, avoiding reliance on manual entry and improving accuracy and consistency at the point of submission.
Learners can review and adjust the extracted information before submitting. This enhancement gives managers and HR greater confidence in the validity of uploaded certifications while ensuring more complete and representative certification reporting.
Available only for customers who purchase the Skillsoft platform.
